At Mount Olympus Dental, we use JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC dermal filler as a non-surgical method to enhance your smile by filling out your lips and the area around your lips. JUVÉDERM® is a modified version of hyaluronic acid or HA. HA is natural substance that exists in your body and provides volume to the skin. Dermal fillers add more HA to increase your skin volume and make your skin and lips look and feel much younger, with fewer wrinkles and a fuller shape. For more information about cost and the risks and benefits of JUVÉDERM®, please give our office a call or talk to one of our staff members at your next appointment.
JUVÉDERM® dermal filler is sold by the syringe. Typically, a person uses 1-2 syringes per treatment. Prior to the procedure, each patient will be individually assessed for how many syringes will be needed and markings will be placed at injection sites. JUVÉDERM® dermal filler will then be injected into the face to achieve the desired effect. Dr. Russell Parkin uses a special dermal filler injection technique to to limit the number of injections needed, which decreases bruising and also increases your safety.
JUVÉDERM® dermal filler is considered relatively safe when given by a trained professional. Dr. Russell Parkin trained under a master injector and is certified to administer BOTOX® and dermal fillers. This training includes a thorough knowledge of facial anatomy for both safety and esthetic purposes. Dr. Russell Parkin will do an individualized assessment and advise you on the procedure to help determine if it best suits your needs and health. If needed, the effects of JUVÉDERM® dermal filler can be reversed by using a product called hyaluronidase, which is an enzyme that breaks down HA in the body.
You can return to most daily activities right after the procedure. Some people may experience pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. You will see the results from JUVÉDERM® dermal filler immediately after the injection. This treatment usually lasts between 9-12 months. To maintain the effect, you'll need regular follow-up injections.
