This can cause extreme amounts of pain and often requires immediate dental attention. A root canal involves cleaning out the infection within the root. Most of the time, a crown is recommended following a root canal to maintain the structural integrity of the tooth.

You will be given local anesthetic which will prevent pain in the area during the procedure. There may be a small amount of soreness following the procedure that typically lasts 1-2 days.
